Creating digital avatars and voice clones: Geoff 2.0
If you know me, you know I like playing with Tech. Some would say it’s just an excuse to buy and play with new gadgets. For the last couple of months, I’ve been working with one of our tech partners to create an AI avatar of me together with a voice clone. This is a technology I played around with at UBS over the last few years. The pace of its development is rapidly evolving, and it’s been an interesting journey that is still very much at its start.
We are interested in this technology as it provides us with on-brand, high-quality video production and scale. We can also produce content when away from a studio. Watch the video below
Daniel Kahneman 1934 - 2024
A few people have had a profound influence on the shaping of my DNA as an analyst, and as a consequence, theinvestmentanalyst.com platform - Daniel Kahneman is one of these people. If you know his work, it is probably due to his book “Thinking Fast and Slow.” If you haven’t read this book, I implore you to do so.
For me and many others, his impact was that his work focused on the psychology of decision-making in the face of uncertainty. Please use the sharing tools found via the share button at the top or side of articles. They showed that humans faced with uncertain situations tend to make judgments and decisions based on systematic biases. People rely as much on flimsy as on solid evidence of probable outcomes; they are guided less by probabilities than by how closely a situation represents preconceived ideas.
This is vital for analysts and investors to consider. The platform has a lot of content that reflects Kahneman’s (and his partner Ivor Tversky's) influence. I’ve picked out two playlists below for you.
New content: Now live
We are currently producing a rich vein of content. We’ve launched new series like “In Focus. Now” and “Excel Shorts.” We published two new playlists containing 25 tips to improve your fundamental stock-picking process.
“In Focus, Now” is a series of videos where I pick out interesting issues from current events and present them with a fundamental analytics slant. Over the last two weeks, we’ve published new content on Nvidia's market cap surge, Reddit’s IPO, and GenAI's sustainability.
Just click on the images below to be linked to the programs. While we have something like 250+ digital assets available for free on the platform, we are getting close to 2,000. So, if you haven’t got access, sign up for the Premium Plus membership and grab the 14-day free trial.
You can search for these programs by hitting the search bar (we have these search fields all over the place) or looking at the “new content” slider in the App (on the landing page).

Highlights from the back catalogue
Now that we’ve built a pretty extensive portfolio of digital assets, we can explore the vault and highlight a few programs you might have missed.
I’m keen to promote the PVGO analysis work, as it's an area of valuation that opens up a new perspective on the analysis. The layout of a standard two-stage DCF isn’t aligned with how businesses work or how owners think about running their businesses. PVGO analysis forces analysis to think more about capital allocation, returns, and value creation about existing businesses and new growth opportunities. I think it's an invaluable tool that should be in every analyst’s analytical toolkit.
Also, don’t pass on the other playlist I’ve pulled out here. I’m trying to pick out valuable content you may miss on the platform rather than just throwing a selection together to fill the column inches.

My major problem with charting in Excel is that Excel charts tend to take up a lot of space. Sometimes, you want to build a chart to visualize some data, but you are not afforded the luxury of space. Using conditional formatting to build low real estate charts in Excel is useful in your Excel charting kit.
I’m currently putting together a library of what will probably end up being 300+ Excel Shorts videos. I’ll drip-feed these videos onto our social media platforms and host them on the InsightOne App (as part of the free access).
Find your favorites!
We’ve added a new feature to the App that creates a playlist of our favorite programs. The favorite playlist has been dropped into various places on the App. You will find it on the app landing page, as part of the Downloads and Favourites screen, and on the Search the Platform screen.
Click on the “heart” icon, and your favorite programs will be added to the playlist.
