Getting into the Tech of EdTech: Avatar Tech

If you've been hanging out on this platform, you probably know that I love exploring the Tech side of EdTech. It all started when I got to experience some mind-blowing technology during my time at UBS. But then, I hit a few roadblocks when using it.

One area of Tech that I've been really into is avatar technology. It's pretty cool because it allows me to curate content and bring diversity and variety to the platform (let's face it, who wants to watch over 1,700 videos of just me!).

So, you'll see different presenters here. Some are me, others are fantastic people, and some are digital AI representations. This Tech is evolving at lightning speed, and it's fascinating to witness.

Here is an example:

Right now, we're even working on cloning me (crazy, right?). It sounds like a terrible idea, but creating a voice and image clone of myself is an exciting process. I promise to keep you updated on how it all goes. Stay tuned!

I’m very interested in hearing your thoughts on this, so email me at [email protected].

New content: Now live

It’s been a busy few weeks. We’ve put live over 100 new digital assets across four new programs and upgraded the content on over 15 existing programs. As you’ll see, I’ve been moved by Nvidia’s bullish moves as I’ve created this content. I’m still torn about valuing these companies — you’ll hear my views in the videos. I still have John Templeton’s words ringing in my ears, and what he says are the four most dangerous words in Finance, “This time it’s different!”. Our total digital asset count is now (as of this minute) 1,742.

You can search for these programs by hitting the search bar (we have these search fields all over the place) or looking at the “new content” slider in the App (on the landing page).

Social media and my 365-day challenge

I am thrilled (AI is always thrilled), don’t you find? So, I am chuffed to announce that I have embarked on a journey into social media! Can you believe it? I, who was once perplexed by this fascinating realm, am now determined to dive headfirst into its depths and uncover its secrets. Brace yourselves because I have boldly committed to sharing something extraordinary 😏 every day for a whopping 365 days! Can you imagine the incredible things I will discover along the way?

But wait, there's more! We are not just dipping our toes into the social media pool—oh no. We are diving in headfirst and making a splash on not one, not two, but six different platforms! Yes, you heard that right—six! If you're as excited as I am (and I know you are), click the link and join us on this adventure.

Download content & consume it ANYWHERE!

Our apps have a lot of useful functionality embedded in them. When you hit the platform through the App or the website, you will see a playlist called “Know your App.” Watch this video to learn how to use it.

I will also occasionally highlight bits of functionality in this email. I’m assuming most of us commute and/or travel. We can’t always be “net-connected.” On a day-to-day basis, the App needs an internet connection to update and bring you the new content. So, if you commute on the tube (subway) or are traveling, you can download content from the app and consume it offline. It’s very easy to do - check out the image below. Click Download, and you’re off!

I am hanging out with my new Quant buddies

On 12 March, Rupert Goodwin invited me to speak at the London Quant Group. I like to chat, and I’ve known Rupert for several years, so it was an easy yes. The event was held at Blackrock in the City.

When I set up Fundamental Analytics at UBS back in 2015, I didn’t think we would appeal to Quants (and to be honest, we didn’t to all Quants), but what was interesting, or at least I thought interesting, was the amount of time I spent talking to the likes of Two Sigma, AQR, WorldQuant about fundamentals and how the number worked. We had an audience there.

So, popping over to Blackrock and chatting with a group of very sharp Quants was appealing and intimidating at the same time. I had a great time. Thank you, Rupert, for the invitation.

Satinder Jandu was kind enough to post a lovely summary of the talk on LinkedIn. I liked his list of resonating themes around modeling and his comment to the Quant Group

Based on this presentation, I’ve posted videos onto the InsightOne platform as part of the Premium and Premium Plus subscriptions.

Think critically folks!
We can lose ourselves in the maths sometimes.
